Our Process
From first call to solar power — here's how it works
A clear, step-by-step process designed to make going solar simple, transparent, and stress-free.
Going solar is one of the best investments a Southern California homeowner can make — but the process can feel overwhelming. At Anca Solar, we've refined our installation process over 25 years to make it as smooth and predictable as possible. Here's exactly what to expect from your first call to the moment your system powers on.
Step 1
Free Consultation & Site Assessment
Everything starts with a conversation. We'll discuss your energy goals, review your electricity bills, and assess your property to determine if solar is right for you. This includes a roof evaluation (age, condition, orientation, shading), electrical panel inspection, and a review of your utility rate plan. There's no cost and no obligation — just honest answers about whether solar makes sense for your home.
Timeline: 1–2 days from first contact
Step 2
Custom System Design
Based on your energy usage, roof layout, and goals, we design a solar system tailored specifically to your property. We use satellite imagery, shade analysis tools, and our 25 years of local experience to optimize panel placement for maximum production. You'll receive a detailed proposal showing system size, estimated production, equipment specifications, projected savings, and total cost — with no hidden fees.
Timeline: 3–5 days after site assessment
Step 3
Permitting & Utility Approvals
This is where most homeowners appreciate having an experienced contractor. We prepare and submit all permit applications to your local building department, coordinate with your utility company (SCE, LADWP, Glendale W&P, Burbank W&P, or Pasadena W&P), and handle the interconnection agreement. Southern California permitting timelines vary by city — some approve within days, others take weeks. We know the process for every jurisdiction we serve and keep you updated throughout.
Timeline: 2–4 weeks (varies by city and utility)
Step 4
Installation Day
Once permits are approved, we schedule your installation. Most residential systems are installed in just 1–2 days. Our crew arrives on time, protects your property, and installs your panels, inverter, and wiring according to the approved design. We use Tier 1 equipment from brands like REC, Silfab, Enphase, and SolarEdge. All roof penetrations are properly sealed and flashed to prevent leaks. At the end of the day, your system is physically complete.
Timeline: 1–2 days for most residential systems
Step 5
Inspection & Interconnection
After installation, your system needs to pass a city building inspection and receive permission to operate (PTO) from your utility company. We schedule the inspection, attend on your behalf, and handle all utility paperwork for interconnection. This is the step that connects your system to the grid and activates net metering so you get credit for excess energy you produce.
Timeline: 1–4 weeks after installation (utility-dependent)
Step 6
System Activation & Monitoring Setup
Once PTO is granted, we activate your system and set up monitoring so you can track energy production in real time from your phone or computer. We walk you through the monitoring app, explain what to look for, and make sure everything is producing as designed. This is the moment your electricity meter starts running backward.
Timeline: Same day as PTO approval
Step 7
Ongoing Support & Warranty
Our relationship doesn't end at activation. Every Anca Solar installation comes with a 10-year workmanship warranty, and we're always available if you have questions or need service. We monitor system performance, handle any manufacturer warranty claims on your behalf, and provide support for system expansions like battery storage or EV charger additions down the road. Timeline: Ongoing — we're here for the life of your system
Total Timeline
What to Expect Overall
From first consultation to system activation, most projects take 6–12 weeks total. The timeline depends primarily on your city's permitting speed and your utility's interconnection process. Throughout every step, you'll have a single point of contact and regular updates so you always know exactly where your project stands.
